Tajkia Sharmi our research assistant from the digital design program has started to create the first 49 test objects for the rings. It will take longer than expected because we want all of the objects to have individual and a multitude of different significance. They should also be visually different and interesting also how they behave as shadows. They also should have some connections to the German romantic’s idea about the shadowland. So here is the first test of generated shadows from three objects, a coral, a robot, and a plow. Here I make a note that the shadows get more interesting and the images they create more complex if the objects are semitransparent. If we choose to use this that could be an important feature of the machine, deciding which objects should be opaque and which should be transparent.
